Sometimes guys are exactly like books. Really. We tend to look their way because of the cover (I’m brave enough to admit that a book cover is the first thing that draws me to read the blurb) even though we all know not to judge a book by its cover. Then there’s the opening to the story, it’s not always what we discover if we continue to read the book through to the end (no one, guy or gal, is understandable with just one meeting). So, yeah, I’m sticking to my belief that guys (or females) are in many fundamental ways just like books. And Joe Winston is the perfect example to prove my theory.

On the surface, Joe is just a mere perception away from a manwhore. Yes, I did go there. He loves the ladies, makes no bones about his fascination with the female form and has no intention of ever sticking to just one woman. Ever. Again, that’s on the surface. The thing is, Joe had never met his match before he met Luna at his cousin’s wedding. And she’s been in his head ever since – with plans to get her in his bed as soon as humanly possible. He probably had a different scene in mind for that happening than the reality, but hey, Joe can go with the flow even when he’s far from in a perfect state of mind or body. Luna needs Joe’s help and Joe is quite willing to provide that help because he’s convinced that’s the perfect way to get this lady exactly where he wants her. Neither thought that they’d be heading into these types of dangerous waters, but this adventure is about to change several lives… forever.

I absolutely loved Joe and Luna, individually and definitely together. The sparks they set off of each other can clearly be felt through the pages. The thing is, I just liked their personalities. Neither is perfect, they have their flaws, but they also have their strengths, and that becomes apparent as they get closer. They truly do make an excellent team – even if Joe is a bit overprotective and Luna a touch overly independent.

Danger is hot on their trail from several sources. Mysterious characters who we don’t really know if they’re the good guys or the villains make Say No To Joe? an intriguing, steamy, heartbreaking story on so many levels. Secondary characters will often make or break a story for me, and this one is full of people that I want to know more about when their time to shine in the spotlight comes along. Although, I have to admit that Jamie is the one I really want to know about the most… but I’ll have to wait a bit because his story is last (of course).

This review has gone on longer than I intended… because I loved this book. If you’re in the mood for a mysterious, steamy romance filled with interesting people, a couple of kids who will pull on your heartstrings, some really vile villains and discovering that every player eventually meets that one person just right for them… then have I got a book for you. Check out Say No To Joe? You’ll be glad you did – and this is just the beginning of the Visitation, North Carolina series.

I own a Kindle edition of this book.

Say No to Joe? Visitation Book 1 Lori Foster 9780821775127 Books Reviews

All the characters in this book were excellent. The young boy Austin endearing. I just loved Joe. I think he was one of the best, if not the best hero Lori Foster has written. This book flowed beautifully and you can visualize absolutely everything. I just reread it after reading it a couple of months ago. Joe is another Winston, big and beautiful, and Luna is his perfect match..a beautiful woman. The way they both come to love the children will have you believing this is not fiction.
I've always considered myself a Lori Foster fan, and I was excited to see 'Say No To Joe?' free on . I actually had to check the title page to make sure this wasn't a self-published book-- it was badly formatted and someone was trying to save money by not proof-reading before the book was uploaded. Full of spelling errors, formatting mistakes, and lousy punctuation. Good thing it was free. The story was entertaining for the most part, although the plot was transparent-- so no surprises there. Good for free, but I am officially turned off from purchasing any books by this author sold thru Zebra/ Kensington Press.
From his first meeting with Luna, confirmed bachelor Joe desires only her and wants to take care of her and protect her. Two orphans have been badly treated. Their cousin Luna is to be their guardian. She takes Joe with her to help her with troubles she has heard about. When Luna and Joe arrive, they win over the children with love, care and perfect parenting. I liked much of it, but I wasn't surprised or delighted enough.

CAUTION SPOILERS
There is a bully hurting the children and his stepfather is even worse. I loved the way Joe acted and talked to the bully and his stepfather. This almost made the book for me.

I did not like two episodes concerning intruders on the property. In each case, Joe was excellent at attacking the intruder and he almost had him, when a female yelled at Joe to stop. In one case, it was Luna and the other time it was Willow. This distracted Joe and the intruders got away. I was annoyed that the females' stupid actions caused the bad guys to get away. I don't like heroines doing obviously stupid things.

Although not necessary to read in order, the characters in this book (Luna and Joe) were first introduced in the story Wild (in the anthology Wildly Winston).

Sexual language moderate. Number of sex scenes two. Setting current day Kentucky and North Carolina. Copyright 2003. Genre contemporary romance with some suspense.
This is a different type of order. I've read this book 4 times already and, yet again, traded it in. I intended to keep it the last time around, but I guess I thought after reading it the 4th time, that would be enough. Nope. I got the hankering for it again. This time it's part of my permanent library, because its one of those books I just never get tired of reading. Lori Foster will remain forever as one of my favorite authors, and this story never fails to satisfy.
What a wonderfully perfect read! I dug into this one at a time when everything around me was feeling very dark and heavy and this book absolutely gave to me exactly what I needed. From the moment this hero meets the heroine he knows he wants her, but doesn’t claim it’s love, and remains celibate until he finally has her 3 months later. He was possessive and jealous and above all protective of her and the children she has gained custody of.

This heroine was the perfect balance of independent, feisty, and vulnerable. I loved how she stood up to the hero without being obnoxious or over the top with it. She wasn’t trying to prove anything to anyone. Her absolute honesty with the children and the hero shined through and I found it so refreshing.

I absolutely loved everything about this book and I can’t wait to continue on with the series!
