1. I always love a KA plot.2. I always seem to love the Alpha hero
3. I love the clothing and food descriptions, always makes me want to shop.
This time, I found a few things that have been not doing it for me with her books, and while this is still 4 stars for me, it makes me annoyed or roll my eyes.
"That beauty ..." Is a phrase that I don't get. I mean - is it Colorado slang?
I love sex scenes. I love smutty sex scenes but I felt their was filler sex here. We end a chapter with a pretty epic sex scene, turn the page for new chapter and pages and pages of sex ... I skimmed. I was bored.
This book has two bouts of suspense which I had been missing from her lately ... A beginning scene that is pivotal in their relationship (& made me cry) and another closer to the end. I can't say much without spoiling but I ugly cried so ... Good stuff.
What I did love was Jussy was a gypsy rocker wanting some peace in the mountains.

Bounty Colorado Mountain Series Book 7 edition by Kristen Ashley Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
The first word that springs to mind in describing this book is "sweet". There isn't a lot of personal angst between Justice and Deke. Their conflict is dealt with easily enough, and we're left to wait for the next plot turn with lots of sex and food descriptions and catching up with the Carnal/Colorado regulars (several outsider observations from Justice that are very interesting).
Oh. And how could I almost forget to mention the descriptions of building/construction? I don't know exact what drywall is, but we get to hear a lot about its installation..A LOT.
As the plot begins, the major plot strands seem pretty obvious and, sure enough, events duly roll out with lots of building and sex in between.
I liked the book, but if I sound ambivalent, it's because as I turned pages I found myself thinking, "More drywall?" "More lunchtime descriptions?" and finally even "More sex?"
My final summary is
1. Nice main couple, mature for a KA pairing
2. Sweet romance with some very touching moments.
3. Drawn out plot that felt a bit predictable and could've used some editing.
Like most KA fans, I love her. I wait patiently for her books to come out and burn the midnight oil trying to finish them. The previous Colorado Mountain books, The Gamble, Sweet Dreams (<3), Lady Luck, and Breathe were amazing. Jagged and Kaleidoscope were meh. Bounty....well, the series could have stopped at book 5 and I would have been happy. I couldn't take to Jussy (seriously, please stop with the nicknames)....and Deke was also 'meh'. I found this book confusing and repeatedly had to re-read passages just to make heads or tails out of what she was talking about. I still don't quite get the whole friend "Bianca" issue....but again, I skipped so much talk about construction and sandwiches that I probably missed it. My main issue is that I just can't figure out why men in KA's books don't use real grammar. Is it hot "alpha" to use correct grammar? Is it not "hot-guy-like" to speak clearly so that people "get" what you are saying? And seriously, can rooms stop going "electric"? Even Joe Callahan couldn't make me get through this book faster. It took me 7 days to read this because I just could not get into it. I did love catching up with Tate/Laurie, Ty/Lexie, Chace/Fay, Bubba/Krys/Jim Billy, etc.
When I first stumbled upon KA with Breathe, I couldn't believe how much I loved her books. I've read and re-read all 51 books. She was creative, funny, and basically, a kickass breath of fresh air. Lately, her stuff is just rambling with too many plot points. At least this book didn't have the obligatory awful ex-wife/bad mom. I'm really tired of that. Am I looking forward to her next book? Absolutely, but I still think this series needed to end at #5.
KA, I will always love you, but hope you maybe change it up. Bring back your kickass style without the formula of bad grammar and
There is no denying that KA is a talented writer. I have enjoyed many of her stories but unfortunately, this one was not one of my favorites. The story is engaging and I fell in love with the characters. My problem was that in the end, I had a hard time believing that the H was as much into the h as the h was into the H. I don't like one-sided romances!
***Some Spoilers***
At the start of the story the h is tripping over herself to get the H. Ok... so I get it, there needs to be drama and KA is a master at delivering relatable, heart pounding angst. Unfortunately, KA never gave us the H making the same efforts for the h. After all her begging for the H...the girl deserved a little woo-ing! Then the book continues with the H having to protect the h. This excuse (HAVING to protect the h) has been done 1,000 times but whatever, I was still in. But, I was out when after all the chasing the h did, continuously putting herself out there only for the H to continuously reject her, he still points out that he not only has an issue with her money but also with her fame. At this point I was yelling at the h to run. This money thing bugged me because having any issue with what people have or don't is shallow. No matter how you paint it, it is judging people on their bank account. I know that happens but it is not a H trait I like. The H shared a story that was suppose to excuse his apprehension but at this point I really wanted the h to stand up for herself and walk...or run from the H. I felt like even after all that the h had done to chase this guy, the H was still deliberating on if the h was worth setting aside his prejudices to take a chance on her on HIS terms. Not cool. I was very offended on behalf of the fictional character ) He dismisses and walks away from her SO MANY TIMES then puts her in a position where she has to justify herself on top of that?!!! Ummm...no. I was done. It could have been redeemable had the H then made to work for the h after all that. To be fair, readers do see the H standing by the h through some difficult life moments but despite this, I wasn't sold on the H having being as into this relationship as the h was. His smugness at the fact that the h had chased him didn't help me either. I needed the H to prove to me after so much rejection that he was just as taken by the h as she clearly was with him. Alas, that never happened and I was left believing that in the real world I would not bet on this relationship lasting a lifetime. In fact, there was a lot of inner monologue of "he likes me" from the h that seemed necessary to include because the H really didn't work for the h at all. He seemed to work harder at keeping her away than earning her.
Having said that, if you don't mind the h making a continuous fool of herself for a man and the man putting fourth minimal effort to win the love of the h, then you might like this story. KA is great at delivery angst. Unfortunately, this is just one of her stories where the h needed to realize her worth and make the H work a little harder in order for me to believe their HEA. As much as I love KA, I would enjoy her books more if some of the conflicts between the H and h were not resolved so easily. It is AWESOME when the Alpha H characters realize that they might have lost the best thing in their lives and they have to hustle for a while in order to make amends to a h that is not going to simply drop panties at the sight of the H's gorgeous face after being treated like dirt.
