The story is primarly set in the past, way in the past, the year 1052, no running toilets, no medical advances, no contacts or eyedrops, or even toilet paper. Euan Donald (The McDonald) is the chieftain of the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands. After a rival clan chiefain fails to bring his daughter for marriage to The McDonald, Euan kills the chieftain and, along with his brothers, decide to stage a raid to obtain a bride for him as he needs an heir. In the present, Janet Duval is in Scotland along with her friend Morag. They are both unhappy with their lives at present finding no men that appreciate their fuller figures and being treated as less than in business, even though they are as smart as the men they work with. While Janet and Morag are walking home from a bar in Scotland they encounter a heavy fog that takes them both through time to the past and they encounter Euan and his brothers on their raid. Euan takes Janet and one of the brothers takes Morag. Both couples marry and after some misunderstandings you find one couple has achieved happily ever after.Very entertaining story. I loved how Janet wasn't thrown into the past alone and how both major characters found love with each other and achieved a happily ever after. There were parts of the story that made me hold my breath expecting the worse (it didn't happen) and other parts of the story that made me laugh out loud. I would recommend this story. Interesting story line and twist, shows weakness of the strong and strength of the week. Once again Jaid nails it!
Ever since reading Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley I've been hooked on Barbarian warlords and the women who they love. Warlord fits the bill, but the story was short and just ok.
steamy and sexy,...if hot highlands are your thing. the down side, flimsy story-very short and I think too much money for the amount of words. However, it is written well or rather concisely.
When I first began reading your books, which were recommended by a co-worker, I was surprised by the diversity. I enjoy your characters, plot, and the time I spend reading each one. I look forward to each new work that becomes available. Thank you for allowing me to escape into your books.

This is my idea of a great Highlander romance. There is just enough magic to give the story a paranormal feel, and the men are big bad sexy masculine characters that you can really sink your teeth into (no pun intended.)

Janet and Morag are best friends living in current day Scotland. After a night out at a local pub, they depart for home only to find themselves caught in a strange fog. When the fog clears, the two women are face to face with several huge Scottish Warriors. Although it seems impossible, they soon realize that they've been thrust into the past.

Euan Donald is the laird of the Isle of Skye in the Scottish Highlands in 1052 A.D. Having recently been left at the altar without his betrothed, he and his brother Graeme decide to go out thieving to catch themselves wives from the Hay clan who left Euan wifeless. While on their wife hunt, they come across Janet and Morag - and have no idea that the women are from the future.

Euan quickly captures Janet and Graeme grabs Morag, and off they go back to the Isle in the Skye. As each woman becomes more acquainted with her new partner/future husband, they must decide if they are willing to stay in this world or if they will choose to find a way home. Is it possible that they can both find true love in the past?

I wish this story had been longer and more in depth. The characters are great and the love scenes are STEAMY....I just don't want it to end so quickly!

I recommend this to fans of Karen Marie Moning's Highlander Series. This book is adults only due to strong sexual content.
Euan is an eleventh century Celtic warrior and The Lord of Isles. He and his two younger brothers are covertly relieving another clan of some wenches when they come upon two of the most comely wenches they have ever seen. Janet and Morag are twentieth century independent women sharing a night out at a local pub in Nairn, Scotland. Fish and chips, girl talk, and a pint. Janet travels to Scotland frequently for her job where she meets and becomes great friends with Morag. They depart the pub into what looks like a terrible fog but soon learn that they entered another reality and even crazier have gone back in time.

Jaid Black is an incredible erotic fantasy writer. I won't elaborate if you aren't familiar with her work than just trust me when I tell you she has got the skills, so that aspect of the book isn't a concern. Their isn't a long courtship between the two main characters and usually that's really a problem for me but it's done so well that I don't notice the lack of build up. Euan is all alpha male warrior and Janet is no cowering virgin so the sparks fly and the steamy scenes sizzle. My only complaint is the length of the book (only because I loved it so much) .....I wish there was more.

I have read every single book Ms. Black has written and have never been disappointed. It's worth the price even though it's a quick read. Enjoy!
